Abstract

The territory of Recale constitutes a sector of the ager Campanus, east of ancient Capua, crossed by the Appian Way and the
Regio-Capuam road. The ancient landscape, disrupted by the construction of the railroad and highway, can be reconstructed with
the help of historical cartography and aerial photographs. Studies of the area have focused mainly on the epigraph of the so-called
Lex Pagana (CIL X, 3772) an important document of an administrative nature from the beginning of the first century BC.

Keywords: Recale, ager Campanus.
