Fenici ed Elimi a Mozia: la ceramica elima nei contesti moziesi tra l’VIII e il VI secolo a.C.

Abstract

Recent excavations of Sapienza University of Rome at Motya have brought to light the
early and fruitful relations between the Phoenicians, landed on Motya between the end
of the 9th and the beginning of the 8th century BC, and the rich cultural tradition of the
Elymians, the population that lived on the island and in the surrounding territory. The
coexistence and integration between these two peoples are reflected in the material
culture of the archaic period, in which the decorated pottery was imported from the
Elymian cities inland, and attested in funeral, sacred and ceremonial contexts.
