The Archaeological Map of Lilybaeum – current results 2021/22
Abstract
The Archaeological Map of Lilybaeum is the result of the long-standing scientific cooperation
between the Universities of Hamburg and Palermo which has allowed over
the years to document and survey a large part of the archaeological areas of Marsala.
The paper investigates the various methods of field research used to gather the necessary
data for the archaeological map of ancient city with a particular focus on the
topographic survey conducted in the years 2021-2022. The work aims to highlight the
impact of the results on already existing research hypotheses and how the resulting
maps enhance our knowledge of the ancient city of Lilybaeum.
