LA CITTÀ ‘INCLUSIVA’. POLITICA, MESCOLANZA ETNICA E MEMORIA A NEAPOLIS

Vittorio Saldutti

Abstract

The contribution deals with the presence of the Campanian component in Neapolis, which is re-dimensioned by Strabo. The Italic component was not secondary nor was it immediately absorbed and obliterated, but remained evident for a certain period of time, contributing to the formation of a local identity. The re-dimensioning operated by Strabo appears to be a rewriting operation aimed at confirming an image that the city had wanted to give of itself, obliterating those “barbaric” traits that had characterised it in the past.

Key-Words : Lucani, Brettii, Campanians, Strabo, Lutatius
