LO SFRUTTAMENTO DELLE RISORSE IDROTERMALI A NEAPOLIS: ALCUNI DATI ARCHEOLOGICI
Abstract
In this contribution, the archaeological data concerning the urban bath complexes of Neapolis are presented. They appear to be artificially fed, so they do not appear to be those mentioned by Strabo. However, the western area of Naples, and in particular the area of Bagnoli and Agnano, is known for the presence of thermal mineral springs, exploited in ancient times. In light of the archaeological data in our possession, it seems plausible to identify the Agnano
area as the balnea and thermo-mineral springs mentioned in Strabo’s passage V 2, 9.
