L’intervento primoangioino sul castello di Melfi

Carola Delpino

Abstract

The castle of Melfi, founded by Normans and subsequently enlarged during the kingdom of Frederik II, was the subject of
significant building work by Charles I of Anjou. ?rough the comparison between the analysis of the building, the documents
issued by the Angevin Curia in relation to this construction site and some 17th and 19th century plans, it is possible to reconstruct
in detail the intervention wanted by Charles I starting from 1278, with which the sovereign adapted the manor to the
changing needs of the new court.
