Abstract
This contribution seeks to analyze Carthage’s political strategies in the central-western Mediterranean during the late seventh and sixth centuries B.C. The objective is to shed light on the measures adopted by the North African metropolis in the period preceding its alliance with Caere, as documented by Herodotus in relation to the battle of Alalia (540-535 B.C.) and the Pyrgi Tablets, which specialists commonly date to around 500 B.C.
