La comprensione dei testi di Pyrgi in etrusco a sessant’anni dalla scoperta: nuovi elementi per una riflessione
Abstract
The paper reconsiders the very object of the dedication recorded in the golden tablets. The starting point is the latest studies on Phoenician and Etruscan texts, and in particular the recognition by Paolo Xella that a statue is mentioned in the Phoenician dedication. A reflection on the long-debated theme of the "sacred place", recorded in both languages, and a reconsideration of the places involved in the dedication offer a new point of view, which requires further investigation. If the proposal turns out to be correct, the dedication would concern a part of the sacred place inside the temple, rather than the temple itself.
