Il testamento dell'umanista Pietro Marso
Abstract
In the Archivio Storico Capitolino, in a volume of “Testamenti” section of the
Archivio Urbano, a previously unknown copy of the will of Pietro Marso, a leading figure in
Roman cultural life between the late 15th and early 16th centuries, has been discovered. It was
drawn up on February 28, 1512, by roman notary Luca Sanctes Dominici, the humanist’s succinct
document, the text of which is published in the appendix, sheds light on the dates of his
birth and death, his heirs, and four Greek books that were part of his library, donated to a
faithful, yet unknown, collaborator.
