Solo Platone non c’era. Sull’uso di ἰσχυρίζομαι/διισχυρίζομαι in Platone

Abstract

The article examines the use of the verb ἰσχυρίζομαι and its compound διισχυρίζομαι within the Platonic corpus. The analysis focuses particularly on instances where these verbs seem to reveal the authorial design: Plato appears to employ this pair systematically to suggest a certain detachment from the statements made by his characters. In other words, this linguistic marker signals to the reader that an interpretative effort is required to grasp the deeper – and true – meaning of the dialogue’s words.
