Nell’articolo si esaminano tre testi di carattere diverso, ciascuno distinto da forme di giochi di parole ed effetti fonici ampiamente sfuggiti all’attenzione dei critici. Il primo è Mart. II 65, che riflette anche il gusto del poeta per gli schemi numerici. Il secondo è Sidon. epist. I 8, un componimento notevole per la sua densa tessitura fonetica. Il terzo è Anth. Lat. 190 R.2, in cui il nome ‘Bumbulus’ richiede una più accurata analisi semantica e fonologica.

In this article, I examine three texts of distinct character, each distinguished by forms of wordplay and sound effects that have largely eluded critical notice. The first is Mart. II 65, which also reflects the poet’s fascination with numerical patterns. The second is Sidon. epist. I 8, a composition notable for its dense phonetic texture. The third is Anth. Lat. 190 R.2, in which the name ‘Bumbulus’ invites closer semantic and phonological analysis.
